Schoolchildren from Blackfield Primary School welcomed the arrival of their new reading bus - courtesy of Bluestar.

The local operator waved a magic wand and delivered one of its buses - fitted out in the style of Harry Potter - which will be kept on-site and used by pupils to enjoy some quiet reading time.

“We’re always on the lookout for ways to help and support the local  community here in Southampton - and this is a great opportunity to do just that,” said Dave Vivier, Bluestar depot engineer for Eastleigh and Totton.

“The school initially had their own bus and were busy kitting it out ready for the children to use - but sadly it was vandalised and burnt out. That’s when our team of local engineers decided to step in. We were able to donate one of our older buses, and it’s an absolute pleasure to be able to help the school turn its original dream of a Harry Potter-themed bus into a reality.

The pupils were excited to welcome the enchanting arrival - which looks just like the fictional Knight Bus from the hugely successful J K Rowling novels and movies.

“With this huge community effort, we will have something truly inspiring for our children to further develop a love of reading.”
