Bluestar scoops multiple prestigious industry awards

Wednesday, November 22 2017

We are bursting with pride as we celebrate huge wins at the prestigious industry awards, UK Bus Awards on Tuesday. Our parent company, Go South Coast, who operate bus brands such as Bluestar, Uni-link, morebus, UNIBUS, Damory, Salisbury Reds, Southern Vectis and Swindon’s Bus Company, scooped three major accolades.

We were praised for our excellent customer service, innovative use of technology, and for the high quality training and development we offers employees, and as a result we were named both Top Shire Operator and awarded the big award, UK Bus Operator of the Year.

The announcement follows success for us in the recent RouteOne bus awards - where we were also named Large Bus Company of the Year.

Also, singled out for the excellence of our depot in Eastleigh, from where we run many of our Bluestar and Uni-link services, we were named Top National Bus Depot.

“This is wonderful recognition of our team here at Bluestar and the wider Go South Coast company,” said managing director, Andrew Wickham. “Our focus, always, is on providing our customers with a high quality and reliable bus service.

“This is wonderful recognition for the talents of all my colleagues here - from our skilful engineers, to our drivers and managers who ensure everything runs smoothly.

“And one of our best-loved Bluestar customer advisors also received a commendation for his work, in the Unsung Hero award.

“Many of our customers will know Jeff Stubbs because he’s been helping and advising at our shop in Bargate Street since it opened in 2014. Before that, he was based in our nearby travel kiosk and known as ‘Jeff in the Box’. His friendly and approachable nature sets him apart - and his knowledge about Bluestar timetables, routes and tickets is second to none. Congratulations to Jeff. He thoroughly deserves this praise.”

“We won’t be resting on our laurels though,” added Andrew. “Go South Coast is fortunate to have a team of highly skilled and experienced professionals - and every one of them is motivated to further enhancing the services we offer here.

“I’d like to congratulate all those who have contributed to an incredibly successful year. A massive thank you to my 1,900 colleagues. They made these wins possible.”

The UK Bus Awards scheme was founded in 1996. It was designed to develop further the Bus Good Practice Awards - which were set up by the Association of Metropolitan Authorities in 1991.
