Southampton councillors joined us to celebrate the launch of our new route 7 extension.

Wednesday, January 31 2018

We have recently adjusted our Bluestar 7 route to fill the missing link vacated by First Hampshire’s 12 service, which no longer runs between Lordshill, Millbrook, Southampton General Hospital and the city centre.

Andrew Wickham, our managing director said “At Bluestar we listen to the views of local people about their requirements for travelling across Southampton. Our response is to enhance our services wherever possible.

“We’ve worked closely with Southampton City Council to preserve services for customers living along a large part of the ex-number 12 route - so it was great to see so many councillors here to celebrate with us"

The Bluestar 7 service now follows the same route as the 12 - making it the only bus service in Oakley Road, Cumbrian Way and Coxford Road. In early February, we will alter it slightly - to service Lords Hill Way, rather than Aldermoor Road. Our customers won’t lose out because the Bluestar 17 service already covers that area.

Our aim, throughout this exercise, has been to minimise the impact of change on our customers.

Cllr Jacqui Rayment, cabinet member for environment and transport, added: “It’s great to see Bluestar continue to invest in Southampton services - ensuring those living and working along this route continue to have easy access to sustainable transport."

The newly-extended Bluestar 7 runs every 30 minutes - with early evening and Sunday services.  Full timetable information is available at www.bluestarbus.co.uk
